The Mission Today

Berean Bible College

The Mission Today is a carryover from my (Tim's) Bible studies, which originally began as TheMission.Today - my former Substack channel. Today, you will find posted here a variety of articles, snippets from my The Restoration Series books, and curated video lessons from noted Bible scholars, including Dr. Michael Heiser, James Jacob Prasch, Joel Richardson, N.T. Wright, and others.

Teaching the Word with Clarity

Discover the Bible as it was meant to be understood: in its original language, cultural context, and intent. We challenge mistranslations, explore Scripture rigorously, and empower you to think critically about the Gospel.

Learn from world-class scholars and pursue the truth that honors God above tradition. Every lesson written here is carefully researched to bring you the most accurate understanding of Scripture based on the context and original intent of its author. But don't take my word for it - please feel encouraged to click on the "Study Tools" link above and do your own research. Be a Berean.

INTRODUCTION TO 'PRESUPPOSITIONS'

Every interpretation of Scripture begins with a foundation — whether acknowledged or not. These presuppositions are the lenses through which we read the text, shaping what we see, what we miss, and what we conclude.

The world approaches the Bible with skepticism, higher criticism, or naturalistic assumptions. We, however, begin with a different set: The Bible is inspired, inerrant, and self-authenticating. It is not the original text in its original context that is on trial — we, the readers, are. As I point out in the book, presuppositions are baggage that we bring to our reading of the Bible. This volume explores how modern theology often inherits assumptions that obscure the Bible's original message. Presuppositions manifest as false assumptions that distort our understanding of Scripture and our beliefs. From mistranslated words to imported worldviews, when any of us pick up our Bible, we unknowingly read Scripture through lenses shaped by beloved Sunday School teachers or pastors, or even by family traditions. I mention this not to assign blame, but to highlight a reality. This volume returns to the core framework: creation, covenant, resurrection, kingdom, restoration, and eternity. It invites readers back into the Bible's unified narrative: God's original intent was to dwell with humanity on the earth, and that plan culminates in Christ's return. Jesus came once. He's coming again — to stay!

This book is not merely about theological accuracy. It is a call to recover the love story of God for His people - a love revealed through Israel, extended to the nations, and will ultimately be realized when the King comes to reign. So, whether you are a student, teacher, or sincere seeker of truth, Presuppositions will change, clarify, and realign your understanding of Scripture - so you can see the story as it was always meant to be told.
